Description

Springside Cottage is a house dating from 1795. Constructed of watershot coursed sandstone rubble, now painted cream, it has a stone slate roof with a chimney at the left gable and stone gutter brackets. The house follows a single-depth, two-bay plan. The two-storey facade is almost symmetrical, featuring a central, blocked doorway with a plain surround, and stepped multiple-light windows—five lights to the left and three to the right—on each floor. A square datestone is set in the centre of the first floor, bearing the incised, shouldered panel and lettering "W P S 1795." A small, rectangular window is present on each floor of the left return wall. The rear of the cottage is blind.
