Description
The Weaver's Cottage is a weavers' cottage, likely built in the late 18th century, which has been altered and restored and is now used as a Heritage Centre. It is constructed of watershot coursed sandstone and features a stone slate roof with restored gable chimneys. The building has a two-room single pile plan and stands three storeys tall, with its back facing the road.
The south front includes a central doorway with a plain surround, flanked by large stepped triple-light windows on either side at the ground floor. On the two upper floors, there is a continuous row of six stepped triple-light windows. The right return wall has one window on each of the lower two floors, while the rear of the building features external dog-legged steps leading to a door on the top floor. All windows have restored glazing bars. Originally, the rear had a continuous outshut with the roof extending down to a single storey height, but this has since been demolished.
Inside, the top floor was originally unpartitioned and has been restored to that open layout.
