Description
Washfold Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed watershot rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and features two first floor windows, with an added bay window to the left and a rear outshut. The quoins are crude, and there is a boarded door in the central doorway. The ground floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, while the first floor windows are also sash with glazing bars and nine panes; earlier first floor windows have been blocked when the roof was raised. The cottage has three capped stacks, two of which have inverted-V slate chimneys. Inside, there is an original 18th-century fireplace in the parlour to the right, a kitchen range to the left, and stone stairs located in the outshut.
