Description
White Horse Cottage is a house dating from 1776, as indicated by a datestone. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a pantile roof with rendered brick stacks. It has a central staircase plan and is 1½ rooms deep. The cottage is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The central entrance consists of a 20th-century glazed door flanked by 20th-century pivot windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, all in their original openings. To the left of the central first-floor window, there is a square recessed datestone inscribed with "H W I 1776." All openings are topped with keyed lintels that have herringbone tooling. The cottage also has coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end stacks.
