Description

Appleby's is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from 1724 as indicated by the datestone. It was remodelled between 1985 and 1986 for Brian Beswick. The building features a cruck frame that is encased in rendered, squared chalk, with a concrete pantile roof. Originally, it had a three-cell, direct-entry plan. The front of the house is two stories high and has two windows. There is a central 20th-century door flanked by 16-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there are two-light small pane horizontal sliding sashes. To the right of the front, there is a square recessed datestone inscribed with "B B. 1724." An attached former barn to the right was rebuilt in 1985 and incorporated into the house, but it is not of special interest.
