Description

West House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1752, with later alterations and extensions. The main part of the house is built of chalk, rendered and whitewashed, with a brick extension and a tile roof. It has a direct-entry plan, originally with three rooms arranged in a line, and includes an outshut and a rear service extension. The two-storey, three-window front has a centrally placed 20th-century boarded door with an overlight. To the left of the door is a single four-pane sash window with a stone sill, and two similar windows are located to the right. The first floor has three matching sash windows. A recessed datestone above the front door bears the inscription "S.W. A.N.N.O. 1752". All window and door openings feature keyblocks. The walls have a plinth and bands marking the first floor. The gables are coped and feature moulded kneelers on a double-span roof. A fire window is present on the right gable wall. The rear elevation is one-and-a-half storeys high and has a catslide roof, with end and right-of-centre stacks.
