Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'HORNBY'. The left face of the milestone has the inscription 'TO LANCASTER 9 MILES', while the right face reads 'TO KILNDSDALE 7½ MILES' and 'INGLETON 9 MILES'.
