Description
No 56 is a house that was formerly a vicarage, built in 1850. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three bays; the right-hand bay is gabled. A drip course runs above the ground-floor windows and door. The windows are mullioned, with Tudor-arched heads for the lights, except for the outer bays on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two adjacent 2-light windows on the left and a 3-light window on the right. The first floor has windows of 3, 2, and 3 lights. The right-hand bay includes a 2-light attic window beneath its gable. The central bay contains a door with a Tudor-arched head and decorative spandrels, flanked by single Tudor-arched lights. Above the door is a plaque with carved foliage, a motto, and the inscription: 'Rebuilt MDCCCL PD [Pudsey Dawson]'. The gables are topped with copings, kneelers, and finials. There are chimneys with diagonal shafts located to the right of the door and on the left-hand gable.
