Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'CLAUGHTON'. The left side of the milestone has the inscription 'TO LANCASTER 7 MILES', while the right side reads 'TO HORNBY 2 MILES. Ky LONSDALE 9½ MILES. INGLETON 11 MILES.'
