Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'WHITTINGTON'. The left side of the milestone features the inscription 'KY LONSDALE 1½ MILES', while the right side is inscribed with 'CARNFORTH 9½ MILES. LANCASTER 14 MILES.'
