Description

This milestone, dating from the mid 19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'WHITTINGTON'. On the left side, it reads 'Ky LONSDALE ½ MILE', while the right side states 'CARNFORTH 10½ MILES. LANCASTER 15 MILES'.
