Description

This is a three-bay house, dating to 1765, with a later addition, now appearing as a symmetrical building on Main Street. The front is now stuccoed, but originally featured rusticated quoins on number 16. The roof is slate, with two gabled dormers, and there is one chimney. The building has a cornice and blocking course that extends across the entire facade. The windows have sills and plain reveals, with sash glazing bars, except for the ground-floor window on the right-hand side. The central doorway has a chamfered surround, later Doric pilasters, and a crude entablature, leading to a six-panel door and a rectangular fanlight. A two-storey semicircular bay has been added to the rear, featuring a flat lead roof and curved sash windows. The interior includes a four-flight dogleg staircase with a closed string and turned balusters, square newels with egg finials, and a front door backed with horizontally-laid planks. In the lobby, a reused elliptical fanlight with radial glazing bars is present, alongside curved panelled shutters in the rear bay. Four-panel doors are on the first floor. The roof structure consists of trusses and collars with chamfered purlins.
