Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular plan with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'HORNBY'. On the left side, it reads 'TO HORNBY 1 MILE. LANCASTER 10 MILES', while the right side states 'TO KIRK LONSDALE 6½ MILES. INGLETON 8 MILES'.
