Description

The terrace wall on the south-west and south-east sides of Hornby Castle is a retaining wall, likely built in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features coping. On the south-west side, there are stone steps at each end of the wall, each consisting of three flights with side walls and octagonal piers. On the south-east side, there is a straight flight of steps that runs parallel to the wall, and at the north end, there is a small lean-to building with a semi-circular plan that is treated as a bastion.
