Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular plan with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'HORNBY'. The inscriptions on the sides are partly obscured by earth and vegetation. The left side indicates 'TO LANCASTER....' while the right side reads 'TO HORNBY....'
