Description

Shaw House is a house, probably built in 1723, constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof. It has two storeys and features the earliest part consisting of three bays with rebated and chamfered mullioned windows. These windows are three lights wide, except for the central window on the first floor, which has two lights. Above the ground floor windows, there is a plain band. The entrance door is framed by a lugged architrave, with a pulvinated frieze and a pediment above it. An oval plaque inscribed with 'JMC 1723 [?]' is located above the door. To the right of the original structure is an added bay that includes sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. There are chimneys located on the gables and between the original house and the extension.
