Description

This milestone, likely from the mid 19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The top is inscribed with the word 'MELLING'. On the left side, it reads 'TO/ HORNBY/ 2 MILES/ LANCASTER /11 MILES.' The right side is inscribed with 'TO/ KIRK LONSDALE/ 5½ MILES/ INGLETON/ 7 MILES.'
