Description

Church Gate is a house dating back to 1885, likely built on the foundations of a structure from 1661, with some original elements remaining. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are mullioned, rebated, and chamfered, with three lights each, except for the central window on the first floor, which has two lights and is chamfered, and the right-hand ground floor window, which has four lights. Some mullions have been extended. A drip course is present above the former doorway in the central bay and over a blocked opening on the right side. The former doorway is now a window with a central mullion, featuring a chamfered surround and a battlemented lintel inscribed 'TMT 1661' and 'GR.1885'. The gables have chimneys and copings with kneelers and ball finials. The left-hand chimney stack projects outwards, while the right-hand stack is supported by stone corbels at first floor level.
