Description

The building comprises a former school and school house, dating from 1875 and likely designed by Paley and Austin. It is constructed of snecked limestone rubble with sandstone dressings and a slate roof.

The school, situated to the right, is a single-storey building with an attic. It features mullioned and transomed windows, with rounded heads to the upper lights. A gabled projecting wing is located to the left, featuring two six-light windows separated by a panel of blank tracery. Above the gable’s apex, which includes applied timber decoration and shaped bargeboards, is a two-light mullioned window. The main facade includes windows of six, four, and six lights. A doorway, featuring a moulded surround and shaped lintel inscribed '18 AG 75', is located at the right of the school. The roof on this side is hipped with a gablet. A chimney is situated to the right of the gabled wing. A cupola, originally containing a bell, is on the ridge of the wing, topped with a slated cap and ball finial.

The school house, formerly the schoolmaster's residence, has an upper storey with plaster and applied timber framing, and a hipped roof. A one-bay projection is on the left side. On the ground floor, it has a three-light mullioned window. Above, a timber oriel is carried upwards as a gabled dormer. A slated verandah shelters a stone canted bay window with three mullioned lights. A first-floor window is timber, and of five lights. A door with a moulded surround is to the left of the bay window. Chimneys are on the ridge of the projecting bay and to the right. A lower, one-bay link connects the school house to the school, featuring a three-light timber window on the first floor and a moulded doorway below.
