Description

The sundial and its base, located west of the Church of St Michael in Whittington, date back to 1641, although the base may be from a later period. The sundial is made of brass and sandstone. It features a square shaft with chamfered sides, resting on a base consisting of three steps. The plate, which includes a gnomon, bears an inscription that is difficult to read but is believed to say: 'Ex dn. Ric. Jackson Rector de Whittington An. Dn. 1641.'
