Home Farmhouse, with Dairy and Tea Room Attached

Home Farmhouse, dating from around 1700, was restored in 1885 when a tea room and dairy were added to the north-west side by the architectural firm Paley and Austin. The building is two storeys high, featuring windows that are rebated and hollow chamfered, consisting of two lights, with cyma-moulded hoods designed as open pediments. On the facade, there are two adjacent windows on each floor at both the left and right sides, with a single window in the center on each floor. To the right of this central bay is a door made of walnut, adorned with applied mouldings, set within a stone doorcase that has crude pilasters and a projecting hood supported by brackets. The house has gable chimneys.

Attached to the left is the single-storey tea room, which has timber and plaster facings on a stone base. The main roof of the tea room follows the slope of the house roof at a lower level and features a bay window with a gable above. In the angle between the tea room and the gable wall of the house is a projection with a hipped roof, containing two adjacent timber windows that face forward. These windows are decorated with elaborate leading and some stained glass panels.

At the rear, there is an octagonal stone dairy whose roof extends downwards over a continuous verandah supported by timber posts, topped with a lantern that has a weather vane. The dairy features six-light mullioned and transomed windows on three sides. Inside the tea room, there is oak panelling and a fireplace surround inscribed with 'DG [Dawson Greene] 1885'. The dairy includes marble shelves held up by marble baluster columns, panels of coloured tiles depicting the four seasons, and a ribbed timber roof with pendant bosses surrounding the lantern.
