Description

The wall enclosing the courtyard south of Whittington Hall dates from the 1830s and is constructed of sandstone rubble with saddleback coping. On the east side, there is an entrance that is flanked by gate piers topped with ball finials. At the southern end of the wall, there is an additional pier with a ball finial. The south side features openings that are fitted with iron railings. On the west side, the wall is stepped up over a chamfered gateway that has a Tudor arch.
