Description

High House is a late 17th-century house that was restored in the early 1980s. It is constructed of pebbledashed rubble and features a tiled roof, following a T-plan layout. The building has two storeys and three bays. The windows are rebated and chamfered with mullions; however, the first-floor windows are modern copies made of concrete. To the left of the porch is a window with two lights, while to the right is a four-light window with a hood. The first-floor windows consist of four and three lights, both with hoods, and there is also a single-light window on the left.

The single-storey porch has a parapet with coping. The outer doorway, which appears to be from the 19th century, features a Tudor-arched head, and above it is a re-set shield carved with a cross. The inner doorway has a moulded surround and a Tudor-arched head. The house has gable chimneys, with the right-hand chimney featuring a projecting stack and both having round caps.

On the left-hand (north) wall of the rear wing, there are two drip courses. The ground floor includes a three-light window and a blocked door with plain reveals, while the first floor has windows with three and two lights. The south wall of the wing also features mullioned windows and two drip courses. The gable wall of the wing has a two-light window on each floor and a projecting stack with a round cap. On the first floor, there is a one-light window on the north side, which lights a closet incorporated in the stack. Inside, the first-floor room of the rear wing has a moulded fireplace with a triangular head, inscribed with 'RII ANO. DOM. 1660', and a cyma-moulded mantel.
