Description

Sellet Mill is a house, likely dating from the early 19th century, built on the site of an earlier water-powered corn mill. The building is constructed of rubble, primarily limestone, and has a slate roof. It is three stories high with three bays, although the third bay was added during its conversion into a house. The windows are modern sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals. A single-storey gabled porch with a modern doorway sits between the first two bays. An opening in the front wall reveals an iron breast wheel. An inserted chimney is located between bays two and three. The mill is described in detail in J. Price’s The Industrial Archaeology of the Lune Valley, published in 1983.
