Description
Holehouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with a stone slate roof. It has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys high with three bays. The windows feature rebated and chamfered surrounds, with the mullions restored in timber. On the left side, there is a blocked one-light fire window. The central bay contains a door with a cyma-moulded surround. The house has gable chimneys, and the gables are finished with copings and kneelers.
On the north-east wall of the rear wing, there is a doorway with a cyma-moulded surround and a segmental head, which has been blocked to create a window. Above a modern first-floor window in the rear wall of the main block is a lintel taken from the adjoining barn, featuring initials and the date '1727'. Inside, the property has exposed chamfered main ceiling joists, and cruck timber has been reused as lintels and in the partition wall. The left-hand front room includes a moulded shouldered stone fireplace, while the rear wing features a wide chamfered fireplace with an elliptical arch.
