Description

Bell Farmhouse is a house built in 1690, with alterations made over time. It features slobbered rubble construction and a slate roof, arranged in a 2-cell plan with a gable entry. The building stands two storeys tall. The windows are rebated and chamfered, originally designed as mullioned windows. On the south wall, there is a blocked 2-light fire window on the left, followed by two bays on the ground floor that have lost their mullions, while the first floor retains one mullion in each window. To the right, there is a gabled 20th-century conversion that matches the style of the house and reuses 18th-century mullioned windows. The west gable wall features a chamfered attic window and two redundant stone corbels. On the left side, there is a door with a moulded surround and a battlemented lintel that is inscribed with the date '1690' and some illegible initials. The north wall has a lean-to addition on the left that contains the current entrance, and to the right, there is a 3-light mullioned window. The first floor has similar windows arranged in a pattern of two, one, and two lights. Inside, the house has chamfered main ceiling joists, with one towards the west possibly having once served as a firehood bressummer.
