Description

This is a milepost dated 1837, located outside the site of a former bleach works in Standish with Langtree. It is made of cast iron and was manufactured by the Haigh Foundry. The milepost features a curved head with a decorative scrolled top, and it has an inscription that reads 'LANGTREE/3 miles to Wigan/5¼ miles to Chorley/1837'.
