Description
The milepost outside number 247, located on Preston Road in Standish-with-Langtree, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1837. It is made of cast iron and features a short fluted flat post that supports a segmental-headed rectangular plate adorned with decorative cresting. The lettering on the plate indicates the distances: "LANGTREE/4 MILES TO WIGAN//23 MILES TO PRESTON/(1837)".
