Description

The stone memorial comprises a Celtic cross bearing the figure of Christ crucified. The wheel-head is inscribed IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. A wreath is carved in relief at the base of the cross shaft. The cross shaft stands on a square, splayed, pedestal and plinth.

Inscribed on the front of the pedestal in applied metal lettering is LORD HAVE MERCY ON THE SOULS OF/ (13 NAMES)/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ EUROPEAN WAR 1914-1918/ AND TO CHERISH WHOSE MEMORY THIS CROSS IS/ ERECTED BY THEIR FELLOW-PARISHIONERS & FRIENDS./ MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. AMEN. Inscribed on the side of the pedestal in applied metal lettering is HAVE MERCY ALSO O LORD/ ON THE SOULS OF/ (11 NAMES)/ WHO DIED IN THE 1939-1945 WAR/ MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.
