Description

St. Wilfred's Church Club is a building originally constructed as a school in 1829. It is made of dressed stone and has a slate roof. The structure features quoins, is two storeys high, and has four irregular bays. The pointed windows are adorned with Y tracery. On the left side, there are external steps leading to a first-floor entrance, with the lower flight returning to the front of the building. A brick gable-end stack is also present on this side. The right side has a pointed entrance. A date stone on the building reads: "STANDISH SUNDAY SCHOOL/ERECTED BY/VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS/ANNO DOMINI MD CCC XXIX", along with a reference to Proverbs chapter 22, verse 6.
