Description

The Jubilee Drinking Fountain is a Grade II listed structure located on the north-east side of High Street in Standish-with-Langtree. Built in 1897, it is made of stone and cast iron. The fountain features a rectangular plinth with canted angles, a frieze, and a cornice. Its sides have hollow-chamfered panels with ogee heads, while the front displays a lion mask that feeds into a bow-fronted trough. The returns of the fountain have semi-circular marble basins, although the fittings are missing. At the top, there is a cap and an ornate lamp standard that supports a 20th-century lantern. An inscription below the frieze commemorates Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
