Description

A terrace of three houses at 1 to 3 Lakeside Cottages, Standish, dating from circa 1862. They were originally built for a dye works company. The houses are constructed of stucco with pebble-dash detailing, and have hipped slate roofs. They are two storeys high and six bays wide. The first floor is pebble-dashed, with quoins visible. There are wide eaves. The windows have segmental heads with label moulds and are sash windows with vertical glazing bars. The entrances also have segmental heads with label moulds and feature three-fielded-panel doors with vertical panels. Number 3 has casement windows. There are three cross-axial chimney stacks. This is an interesting example of early workers' housing.
