Description

11 and 12, Lakeside Cottages are a pair of houses built in 1861 for a dye works company. They feature a stucco exterior with pebble-dash and a slate roof. The buildings are two storeys tall with two gabled bays, and the returns have gabled projections. The first floor is finished in pebble-dash with stucco strips at the corners, and there are wide eaves and verges. The barge boards are plain and include finials. The windows have chamfered reveals and label moulds, and they are fitted with casements. The entrances to the return projections also have label moulds. A central stack is present. This pair of cottages is an interesting example of early workers' housing.
