Description
Manor House is a 17th-century house with later alterations, located on Chorley Road in Worthington. The building features dressed stone and brick construction with a slate roof, part of which is covered with stone slates. It is two storeys high and has five bays, with the fourth and fifth bays projecting under a gable. The first floor of the first three bays is made of brick and includes casement windows, while the fourth and fifth bays have ovolo-mullion windows with label moulds. The ground floor has a six-light window, and the first floor has two-and five-light windows, along with an attic two-light window. The entrance is located in the third bay, with an additional entrance in the fourth bay that has a label mould raised over a datestone and features a wide boarded door.
Inside, there is a partially exposed cruck truss, chamfered beams, and an ovolo-moulded fireplace bressummer, which is supported on a turned post. This fireplace is open to a small bay window on the side, which is surrounded by panelling and benches on three sides, believed to be a courtroom.
