Description
This milepost, dating from around 1821, is made of cast iron and is located on Booth's Hill Road in Lymm. It features a plate with a convex top, raised shoulders, and rounded lower corners. The central column displays placenames with mileage listed on each side: 16 miles to Stockport, 7 miles to Altrincham, 4 miles to Warrington, and 15 miles to Manchester. The maker's name, Bellhouse, is cast on the stem, although the address and design number are not legible. This milepost was part of the former turnpike route from Warrington to Altrincham, which opened in 1821.
