Description

A terrace of four cottages, numbers 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19, located on Church Road, Lymm, was built in the early 19th century. The cottages were originally constructed for fustian-cutters. They are built of red brick in an English garden wall bond, with a gabled grey slate roof and three ridge chimneys. The windows are small-pane recessed sash windows, with bars removed from the lower storey of number 11. Yorkshire lights are present in the former fustian-cutting loft, some of which are now boarded up. The cottages have stone cills and wedge lintels. The doors are now set within round-arched openings, with the fanlights blocked. The terrace is noted for being a rare example of cottages constructed with an undivided loft, which has since been altered, intended for a group of fustian-cutters.
