Description
The bridge over the outfall and spillway at Lymm Dam, built in the late 19th century, carries Church Road across the water. It is constructed from buff sandstone ashlar and features a masonry spillway. The bridge has a semicircular arch with a span of approximately 7 metres, adorned with plain projecting stone bands at the back of the voussoirs and at road level, along with plain ashlar parapets. On the east side, there is a short abutment against a steep sandstone bank, while the west side has a battered, curved abutment with a large battered buttress on the north side. The bridge was widened on the south side in the mid-20th century, incorporating a concrete soffit but retaining a rebuilt ashlar face. The cascade spillway leads to a natural waterfall in the nearby steep wooded Dingle.
