Description

Beech Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 15th or 16th century. It underwent significant alterations in the early 17th century, followed by restoration in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features restored timber framing set on a stone plinth, with rendered brick on the sides and rear. It has a graduated Welsh slate roof and two gable brick chimneys. The north front is 1½ stories high and consists of four bays. The small timber framing includes three and five-light wooden casements, along with a door leading to a cross-passage that has a lean-to hood. Above, there is a two-light casement in a raking dormer.

Inside, the farmhouse contains three pairs of full crucks with moderate scantling and slight elbow, while some tiebeams, collars, and yoke remain in parts. The main room has an inserted floor with chamfered ceiling beams. An inglenook post and beam features a completely reeded face, and there is a low screen made of four wide planks behind it. Some original timber framing and wattle and daub can be found in the partition walls.
