Description

Lilwall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that may date back to the 15th or early 16th century, but it has been largely remodeled in the 17th century, with further additions made in the 18th century and alterations in the 20th century. The building features a combination of timber framing, painted brick, wattle-and-daub infill, and sandstone rubble, all topped with Welsh slate roofs. It has an irregular L-shaped plan, with wings oriented east/west and north/south that meet at the eastern end, and it includes end stacks. The farmhouse is single storey with an attic, and there is a two-storey extension at the northern end of the north/south wing.

On the south front, the section to the left has a slightly lower roofline and features a 20th-century window. The main house has one skylight and one dormer with a part leaded 2-light casement window. The ground floor includes one 20th-century window to the left, a small 2-light casement window, and a large 20th-century window to the right of a gabled porch that has a ledged door. Inside, the farmhouse retains one cruck truss in the north/south wing, and the upper room of the two-storey section at the northern end of the same wing is lined with early 18th-century panelling. The fireplace in this room has a moulded surround and a panelled overmantel.
