8/7 Lilwall Farmhouse

19.8.53 - II

Farmhouse. Possibly of C15 or early C16 origins, largely remodelled during C17 and with further additions of the C18, C20 alterations. Partly timber-framed with part painted brick and part wattle-and-daub - infill, and partly sandstone rubble, Welsh slate roofs. Irregular L- shaped plan with wings aligned east/west and north/south adjoining at east end; end stacks. Single storey and attic with two-storey extension at northern end of north/south wing. South front: slightly lower roof- line to section to left with C20 window, main house with one skylight and one dormer with part leaded 2-light casement window, ground floor has one C20 window to left and one small 2-light casement window and one large C20 window to right of gabled porch with ledged door. Interior: retains one cruck truss in north/'south wing andthe upper room of the two-storey section at the northern end of the same wing is lined with early C18 panelling, the fireplace has a moulded surround and panelled overmantel.
