Description
Oak Cottages is a terrace of four cottages built around 1855 for Robert Greg. They are constructed from yellow brick in English bond and feature a Welsh slate roof with two brick chimneys. The cottages are arranged in an H-plan, with one cottage in each cross-wing and two in the central range. The north front is symmetrical and has two storeys with eight bays. The end bays project forward under gables that have pierced barge boards. Each gable features a five-light wooden mullioned window with a moulded flat hood, and some gables display blue-brick diapering. The central cottages have a similar five-light window and a two-light window flanking board doors, which are sheltered by lean-to hoods supported by wooden brackets. Above these, there are four three-light casements in raking dormers. The doors to the end cottages are located at either end under gabled hoods. Oak Cottages is identical to Nos. 1-4 Farm Fold Cottages, and it is listed for its group value.
