Description
Oak Cottages, also known as Styal Shop, is a former shop that dates back to around 1820, built for Samuel Greg. It features a shop front with a house behind it, which underwent mid-19th century alterations and 20th century restoration. The building is constructed of English garden wall bond red brick and has a Welsh slate roof with a brick chimney. It is two stories high with a three-bay south front. The end bays each have large eight-pane windows framed in wooden architraves, which include raised panels on the pilasters and a cornice. The door, which has six tall panels, has a similar surround. Above the door, there are two horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars. The entrance to the house is located in the left gable.
