Description
Tudor Cottage is a former farmhouse that was later converted into two mill workers' cottages and is now a house. It dates from the 17th century, with early 19th-century alterations and additions. The building features a combination of partly timber framing on a stone plinth and partly washed brick, topped with a thatched roof and two brick chimneys. It has a one-and-a-half storey, four-bay front. The left end bay, constructed in brick, has a board door set in a heavy rebated wooden frame. Above this, there is a timber-framed gabled dormer with a two-light horizontal sliding sash window. The remaining bays are in timber small framing and include a two-light casement window with leaded glazing, a similar but smaller window that is swept over by thatch, and another timber-framed dormer. At the right end, there is a four-board door in a rebated surround. A brick lean-to against the right end contains a brick bread oven, and the right gable displays an upper cruck truss, while the left gable is stone-coped.
