Description
Tecket Farmhouse is a farmhouse that possibly dates back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the early 17th century and a first floor rebuilt in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with dressings, topped by a Welsh slate roof and dressed stone chimneys. The building has two storeys and features three windows. The ground floor has roughly-squared quoins, while the upper floor has tooled-and-margined quoins.
On the ground floor, there are four openings with damaged double-chamfered surrounds. The central doorway is heightened and features a lintel with a sunk shield that has illegible lettering. To the left of the doorway is a single-light window and a two-light window, the latter having its mullion removed, both situated under a long dripmould. A similar two-light window is found on the right, all of which have replaced casements. Above these, identical casements are set in flush surrounds with alternating jambs. The roof is low-pitched with coped gables, and there are 19th-century end stacks with top bands.
At the rear, there is a late 19th-century outshut made of two builds. Inside, the gable end walls are 1.75 metres thick, and the front wall on the ground floor is 1.0 metre thick. There are massive partly-blocked fireplaces on the gable ends. The ground-floor room on the left features adzed ceiling beams of heavy scantling. The farm buildings on the left return are not of special interest.
