Description
South View is a house dated 1827, located on the north side of Summerhouse. It is constructed of squared tooled sandstone and features a pantiled roof with stone-flagged eaves. The building has been fitted with rebuilt brick chimney stacks and consists of two storeys with two windows. The corners of the house have raised quoins.
The entrance is an off-centre replaced door set in a raised surround, topped with a dated lintel and a gabled stone hood supported by consoles. The windows have projecting sills and tooled-and-margined lintels with raised, wedge-shaped faces. The ground floor has 4-pane sashes, although the intermediate glazing bars have been removed, while the upper floor features replaced 4-pane sashes. The roof is adorned with flagged eaves, coped gables, and shaped kneelers, and there are chimney stacks at both ends of the building.
