Description

Rose Cottage is a house built in 1791, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of squared sandstone and features a pantile roof with brick stacks. The house has a central-entry plan with an outshut and is two stories high with a two-window front. The central door consists of six recessed panels. The windows are 16-pane sashes with painted stone sills and flat arches that are keyed. The door is topped by a triple-keyed flat arch, which includes the date on the center keystone. The eaves are adorned with paired modillion, and there is a 20th-century roof light. The gables are coped with shaped kneelers, and there are stacks at both ends of the building.
