Description

The Crown and Cushion is a public house built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It features squared sandstone with a rendered porch and a 20th-century cast tile roof, complemented by slate-roofed porches and rebuilt brick stacks. The building is two stories tall, with a three-window front on the right and a lower two-window front on the left.

The higher section has a central four-panel part-glazed door set within a gabled porch that has bargeboards and a finial. To the right, there is a three-window canted bay topped with a cornice. The remaining windows are 16-pane sashes with painted flat arches made of tooled voussoirs, which are keyed to the first floor. The attic features three gabled dormers with bargeboards, each containing 4-pane sashes.

The lower range has a door with six panels, two of which are glazed, located beneath a pent porch on the right. There is also a three-window canted bay to the left and 4-pane sashes on the first floor. All windows have painted stone sills. The building has coped gables and shaped kneelers on both ranges, with chimney stacks positioned at the ends and right of the center of the higher range, and an end left stack on the lower range. The property is included for its group value.
