Description

Chapel Garth is a house dating from the early 19th century, located on Village Street in Welburn. Built of squared sandstone with sandstone ashlar dressings, it features a pantile roof and brick stacks. The house is constructed with a central-stairhall plan, being one room deep. The facade is three windows wide and two stories high. The central entrance has a flat arch and a six-panel door with a fanlight above. A distinctive feature is the radial-glazed first-floor window at the centre, set within a round-arched surround of voussoirs, with imposts and a keystone. The remaining windows are 16-pane sashes with flat arches of voussoirs. All windows have stone sills. The gables are coped, and the house has shaped kneelers. Brick stacks are located at the ends and to the right of centre.
