Description

This is a late 18th-century inn, later adapted as a farmhouse, located on Village Street in Welburn. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble, rendered on the front, and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. It follows a central-entry plan, with a single room depth, and includes a rear lean-to extension added in the late 19th century. The farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. The central entrance features a six-panel door, partially glazed, and a divided overlight. There are twelve-pane sash windows to both the ground and first floors, all with painted stone sills. The window openings are topped with painted, keyed wedge lintels. Three gabled dormers, with plain bargeboards and unequal twelve-pane sashes, illuminate the attic. The roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers. Brick stacks are located at the ends of the building.
