Description
Elm Tree House and Pigeon Cote Farmhouse represent a pair of houses constructed in two phases: the late 18th and early 19th century, and the late 19th century. Elm Tree House is built of coursed rubble sandstone with a pantile roof and rebuilt brick stacks. It follows a central-entry plan and has a two-storey, two-window facade. A central six-panel door is present, alongside 12-pane sash windows with painted stone sills throughout. The windows are detailed with flat arches formed of painted, chiselled voussoirs. The building features a coped gable and a shaped kneeler to the left side, and end stacks provide ventilation. Pigeon Cote House is a one-and-a-half-storey structure with a single window front. An entrance is located in the gable end to the right, with horizontal sliding sash windows with small panes to the front. A painted lintel is present above the ground-floor window, and a gabled half-dormer window lights the attic. Pigeon Cote Farmhouse is included on the register primarily for group value.
