Description
The Cottage is a house that likely dates from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from dressed sandstone and features an old pantiled roof with two brick chimney stacks. The building is two stories high and has a three-bay front with alternating quoins. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door from the 19th century, framed by monolithic jambs and a lintel, while there is a blocked doorway to the extreme left. The façade includes four 4-pane sash windows with raised sills and flat arches made of dressed stone. Above the doorway, there is a central blank bay. The roof has a slightly swept, moderately pitched design with a raised verge on the right side and a double row of sandstone flags along the eaves. The ridge and right gable stacks have been rebuilt.
